Hi 3rd graders :-)
Next Monday we will have a test on Semitones , Tones and 2nd intervals.
You will be asked to identify the semitones as per type (chromatic or diatonic) and to find out whether the interval given is a tone or not.
You will also be asked questions such as "what is an interval" or "how many semitones are there in a 2nd Augmented interval".
Some tips for your study:
Chromatic Semitones are the semitones between 2 notes that their name is the same (for example: Do - DoSharp)
Diatonic Semitones are these between 2 notes with a different name (for example: Do - Re flat)
Tones are consisted of two semitones.
Interval is the distance between two notes. (for example Do-Sol: 4th interval)
We identify the intervals as per size and type.
Size is how big the interval is (for example: Do-Mi is a 3rd interval, Re-La is a 5th interval)
Type is how many semitones are there in the interval (for example Mi - Fa is a minor because there is only one semitone)
Type of 2nd intervals:
minor: 1 Semitone
Major: 2 semitones
Augmented: 3 semitones
